Powering the Future of Waste: epark engineering Supports Grundon’s Electric Fleet

The shift towards electric waste collection is well and truly underway, and epark engineering is proud to be playing its part in making it happen.

Grundon, one of the UK’s leading waste management companies, made history by launching the country’s first purpose-built all-electric Scania commercial trade waste collection vehicle – a landmark moment in the drive towards greener, cleaner collections.

John Stephens, Grundon’s General Manager – Logistics, said: “We are delighted to have broken new ground by launching the first Scania all-electric commercial trade waste collection vehicle in the UK. We’re aiming to deliver a greener, cleaner collection fleet which is better for our drivers, our customers and the planet.”

It’s exactly this kind of forward-thinking ambition that epark engineering is here to support.

Our role in Grundon’s electric journey

To help Grundon safely and efficiently charge their new electric fleet, epark designed and manufactured a bespoke cable management solution specifically tailored to their requirements. The system supports a direct DC cable run to the charging point of the vehicle, ensuring a clean, safe, and reliable connection every time.

Going the extra mile, epark also powder-coated all components in Grundon’s company colours – a small but important detail that reflects the care and precision we bring to every project.

Why electric waste collection matters

Electric waste vehicles deliver real, tangible benefits – reducing air and noise pollution, cutting carbon emissions, and contributing to a cleaner environment for everyone. As more towns and cities move towards low emission zones and businesses face increasing pressure to meet sustainability targets, the transition to electric fleets isn’t just desirable… it’s essential.

At epark, we are committed to supporting this movement. Whether it’s a single depot or a nationwide fleet rollout, our engineering team is ready to deliver the infrastructure solutions that keep electric vehicles charged and on the road.
